Medical treatment benefits
The Department of Labor and Industries, (or Self-Insured employer) will pay for necessary medical expenses related to an industrial injury or occupational disease. This includes routine examinations by the attending physician, emergency room expenses, diagnostic testing, physical therapy, surgical interventions, and prescription medications.
Initial diagnostic tests such as X-Rays are also usually covered. Additional diagnostic testing, surgeries, consultations with specialists, and other services generally will need prior authorization and must meet specific guidelines. Generally, the attending physician or treating physician will request authorization for consultations, surgeries, and other services. No medical expenses will be covered if your claim is closed, denied, or if the treatment request is related to a condition that has been rejected.
