What is Maximum Medical Improvement? (MMI)

Maximum Medical Improvement is the point in which there is no further medical treatment that will resolve your symptoms or treat your condition. MMI does not mean the injury is healed; it means that curative treatment options are exhausted. When an injured worker is close to, or reaches the point of, MMI and is unable to return to the job of injury, the department or self-insured employer will typically begin vocational services. However, in some instances the department or employer may begin vocational services early.
